One of the most remote frontiers of the wilderness lies in Nunavut Territory in Northern Canada. Inukpak Outfitting’s guided hiking expedition to Akshayuk Pass is truly one of the best hiking experiences you could possibly have in Canada. Wide open arctic landscapes, towering mountains, long northern summer days are just a few things that make this a once in a lifetime guided hiking trip in Canada. The Chilkoot Trail is the original backpackers route into Canada’s far north. This is the hiking trail used by prospectors in the Klondike Gold Rush, and you get to try the same hiking experience they did, but don’t worry- you won’t have to carry as much! Ruby Range Adventures have planned one of the best guided hiking tours in the Yukon on this seven day trek. Everything is taken care of for you, including a float plane ride back to Whitehorse from Lake Bennett. If the gold prospectors knew they’d be very jealous! Not just for the passionate locals that run this hike, or the gorgeous landscape it takes place in, but for the overall experience, this is a highly underrated essential experience in Jasper. The drive is roughly an hour long, and probably one of your best chances of seeing wildlife during your trip. You can opt for a tasty picnic lunch and the guides provide excellent interpretation along the way. The hike winds its way up an old fire road and then up onto a high, rolling ridge with jaw dropping views of the surrounding mountains and Maligne Lake far below.

The Chilcotins are an incredible and undiscovered mountain range a little North of Whistler. Unchanged by humans, they were forged from massive glaciers and garnished with wildflowers, hosting far more wildlife than humans. Coastal Bliss Adventures offer an exceptional guided hiking tour in the South Chilcotins and we think you should try it out! The remoteness, beauty and lack of crowds make this a very special hiking adventure in BC. Come see for yourself!

Tombstone Mountain Trek- Yukon

Terre Boreale

Tombstone Territorial Park is known as the “Patagonia of Canada” and when you are lucky enough to lay eyes on the massive hunk that is Mount Monolith in the Tombstone Range, you will quickly understand why.

Remarkably similar to Mt Fitzroy in Patagonia, these mountains stand tall and proud, resisting time and gravity. The views of these peaks from the nearby lakes are absolutely stunning.

The trail begins 1.5 hours from Dawson City, so be sure to mix in a night there to get acclimated and take in a Can-Can show before heading out into the wild for a few days. The Tombstone trail gains a ridge where you get your first view of the epic peaks, before dropping down to pass Grizzly, Divide and Talus Lakes. All three lakes feature incredible campsites with million dollar views.

If you are lucky enough to be here in the fall, right as the autumn colors pop, you won’t regret it. Tombstone Territorial Park is very close to the artic circle and tree line, so tundra shrubs are the most common vegetation in the area. With that, you get very open views, even when you are not high on a mountain pass or alpine ridge, so you can feast your eyes the entire time you are hiking.

There is a good reason the Tombstone Trek is one of the best guided hiking trips in Canada for 2024!
